Looking for a set of discs and pads for the front, the discs seem pretty standard but I keep seeing pads with and without a wear sensor, could anyone give me a part number or set number for a known set of parts that fit the model I have.

2015 500 1.2 s

Thank you

Hello and welcome to the forum.

The 1.2 500 should have a wire for the wear sensor, but there's absolutely nothing to stop you fitting pads without this; they're dimensionally identical. IMO wear sensors aren't particularly reliable and should never be a substitute for checking the pad thickness regularly. The 1.2 is particularly prone to pads sticking in the calipers if they're not assembled with an appropriate antiseize and this will quickly lead to uneven pad wear and even bending of the pads &/or discs. Decent aftermarket discs for the 1.2 are so cheap it's probably worth replacing them at pad change time as a matter of routine.

Personally I've found the Pagid pads & discs from ECP both to be both good value and to fit well; about £50-£60 for the complete set. The other good news is that changing pads & discs on the 500 is just about as easy as it gets.

This is one job where you can save yourself a serious amount of money by not using a franchised dealer.

You might take a look at this thread.

I noticed on a couple of videos that the brakes on these vids looked different to mine, the types shown seem to pivot up but mine require the use of a 7mm hex key to remove them, is that the change you mean, I am going for a Brembo set of pads and discs of Amazon as they seem to be a good price and Brembo are usually decent quality.
cheers for the replys

Brake discs and pads front Brembo 08.5085.14 + P23060: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

these one seem to be the correct type.

Hello jrkitching, can you answer if you know whether an enigma I discovered today is standard or the result of past tinkering...? This afternoon I swapped the front discs and pads on my 2012 Fiat 500C 1.2 Lounge and discovered the nearside caliper contained a brake pad with sensor wiring, but then oddly within the offside caliper the pads were without a sensor (and the small bracket that should be attached to the caliper that would secure the sensor plug socket connectors, was absent, together with the wiring that would then run up and up through the top front of the wheelarch). I am a bit puzzled.

Thanks 306maxi....I thought it may have been a botched job by a prior owner! Pleased it wasn't.
I wish now I had saved the £17+ extra, by getting the pads with the sensors from ECP. If there is a next time I'll fit the plain pads. All good learning though... ha ha
