After five years and almost daily use I'm looking to lubricate the runners of my 500C's soft top. Has anyone done it? If so, what lubricant to use and how was it applied?

After 5 years, its a bit late! Grease and oil attract dirt cause abrasion and generally don't help.
Silicon spray applied to a rag and used to wipe all the places you can get is a great help, graphite lubricating spray or PTFE lubricant would be my choices. The key is cleaning dirt. If you can access the cables that operate the roof 3 in 1 carefully applied is also good.
If the roof works at a normal speed, is free from juddering and generally smooth I would seriously consider leaving it alone. Once you start lubrication my experience is you have then to continue regularly to ensure that dirt and grit are kept at bay. These are the greater enemy.
WHat does the handbook say? There is also the electronic workshop book that you can access from this forum.
