which model to buy

So after 10 years of wanting one and 4 pandas, i am finally going to bite the bullet and get a fiat 500

I am torn between 2 models though - the cult and the vintage 57! Both are amazing.

Also having the old twinair vs 1.2 engine debate too. My sister has a twinair and gets along with it but i keep reading mixed reviews and even the dealer i visited yesterday wasn't keen on the twinair

any advice on the best model to get is appreciated - even over the other 2 i suggested. Only thing i really need is blue and me

The Cult in the mint green is nice, the 57 looks alright but I'm not sold on the white roof. We have a 2013 Twinair and think it's great.

Re: which model to buy

As you may travel again to buy, Motorpoint.co.uk good reference point for what modern colours are like and car should be faultless as all year old or less. The Pop Star spec good value compared to the Lounge anyway. Not as easy to find though.

Re: which model to buy

I like the 500s in red.

If you go for new you get cruise and 7" Uconnect (replaces Blue & Me) with apple carplay/android auto.

Again, new with full warranty I would be thinking Twinair 85hp, but second hand I would be tempted more by the 1.2 as there always more about to choose from.

If you are in the market for second hand, you could put the feelers out now with the local dealers for cars returning from 2 and 3 year PCP deals, owners that signed for Sept new reg cars will soon be looking for replacements and will now be sniffing around the dealers for them.

If buying new, don't pay full price.
As a rule of thumb, you should get around £1000 off just for asking (and more for pestering), though there are bigger discounts if you qualify.
You shouldn't need to wait too long for one either, there's usually a stack of them at the docks.

But writing all that, I like Isgraham's suggestion.
I love my Abarth, it's totally bonkers as a car, but it sure does make me grin!
I picked mine up new for the same price as a 105hp S.

Re: which model to buy

thanks for all the replies

i don't think i want to buy a new one, i think i want to stay away from pcp and get one that i can do HP on

I really like the look of the cult now more than the vintage 57 - and hubby aslo isn't a fan of the white roof on them.

I will end up travelling to get one as there isn't much of a selection in NI

The Twinair is a super wee engine if it is used.

It doesn't like lack of mileage and lack of servicing.

If you want to pootle and don't do may miles stick to the 1.2.

If you want to drive the car hard (When warm) the Twinair is brilliant.

which model to buy

I have bought a 1.2 lounge with cream and grey check interior to replace our Panda. Its a17 plate from Motorpoint. Ex Avis hire car so Uconnect not switched on. Saved a wad on new. Only issue has been the well known clutch switch, flat spot issues but other than that love it.

Re: which model to buy

1.2 is slow and gutless, twin air is far better it's as simple as that engine wise.

If you think the 1.2 is gutless then youíre missing the point somewhat. Firstly itís the most economical engine in the range and secondly you can more than easily keep up with traffic.

Re: which model to buy

i still haven't chosen a car yet - although i think we might just buy locally in NI this time round as the hassle of going to the mainland for a car just isn't practical atm.

I am now thinking of getting a pre reg or close to it lounge. i'll never go mad!

i've just finished shopping for a motability car for my daughter, as well as writing 2 cars off this year (well, neither was my fault) and i am just exhausted car shopping!
