Hi all. I searched on the forum for a similar problem but I could only find the usual “AC not blowing cold” issue. I have just the opposite problem on my wife’s 500 TA: it’s blowing cold all the time, on any temperature setting on the dash, even if I set it to 32C it still blows cold.

Has anyone else experienced this? I don’t know much about Fiats, I am more of a VAG/Renault guy but from experience I assume there is a fault with the cabin temp sensor?

Yes climate control. It has started doing that since friday when she was driving back from work. Is there any way of checking if that is the actual cause and not the temperature sensor on the roof? Not keen on stripping the dash out to find that is not the cause.

If the car is displaying an accurate internal temperature, then I'd suggest the temperature sensor is working correctly. If the sensor is faulty, I'd expect the displayed actual temperature to be wrong.

Have a search of the forum to find out more about this issue. A word before you start dismantling. My understanding is that the repair requires the removal of both doors, steering column and airbags and most of the interior forward of the front seats. It's a full days work for an experienced mechanic who's done it before. Also individual parts for the heater box are not available and a new OEM heater box is circa £1000.

There's a chap in the Southampton area who'll source and fit a secondhand replacement for around £600-£700, but obviously with a secondhand part of this nature, no guarantee can be given as to its likely lifespan.

It's been said that not turning the controls to their maximum settings can help prevent this from occurring, as it's a plastic part that breaks when the servos overrun their stops.

And were would I check what internal temperature is the car displaying? The one on the speedometer screen is the external temperature as far as I know.

Yes, the temperature display on the speedo MFD is driven by a sensor in the passenger door mirror.

I've not had personal experience of the ACC models - is the current inside temperature not shown on the climate control display?

Have a read of this thread, and this one also.

No. The temperature displayed on the climate control panel is the "desired" temperature however it doesn't display the actual temperature inside the car. I will have a read on those threads, cheers.

I had a second hand unit fitted here in Southampton, as heater flap had broken.
As stated big job. £400 pounds including second hand unit. Mechanic said never again!
