My car has valves that are flat into the wheel they require a Alan Key and some other bits one screws into something to inflate the tyre, firstly what are these valves called and secondly where can I get the bits to inflate the tyre thank you.

There’s probably something you screw onto them to extend them out. Tbh I’d go to a tyre place and get them to put normal valves on. Tbh that’s the sort of thing that would put me off buying a car, never know what other daft things the previous owner has done.

Not a dealer fit or official fiat part, who knows where they are from and specifically what bits you’ll need.

If there isn’t anything in the boot or glovebox, then as suggested a visit to a tyre place to have proper valves fitted is the order of the day.

Thank you for the reply, what daft things should I be looking for?

The flush valve system requires a stem filler that you insert into the valve.

Thank you for the reply,I have the unscrewing set for the valve I’d like to get a spare set just in case any bits go missing at any time,so you’ve answered my question which I’m grateful, where would the best place be to order another set.
Thanks again

It’s not a standard thing, you might buy a set only to find that it doesn’t work with your valves. Get rid of them and put normal valves on.

You'll probably find out How 'good' an idea they are when trying to put a bit of air in the tyre miles from home and don't have the wazzie adaptor! Keep it standard before you have to use your choice of swear words!

It’s not bits going missing that’s usually the issue, if you’re careful then the bits are always i the boot when needed.

The problem here is these sets are often cheap and will break that one important time you need them, as far from home as you can be. The adaptor usually snaps during use which is supprisingly common when putting pressure on the valve from a standard garage pump, you’ll be left with a tyre that cannot be inflated in anyway and a set of tyres that you then can’t put any air in either if you did need to.

The usual rubber tire valves are less pretty but they are robust and don’t ever tend to cause problems, faults or failures

I must admit this is all an education for me - I never knew such daft things existed!

Usually fitted by the sort of person who would replace all their bulbs with ones that are exactly the shade of white they want and would probably buy ultra cheap 100 pound coilovers for their car.

As daft as it sounds, this would be enough for me to walk away from a car.

I must 'fess up to buying metal valve caps from Halfords when I got my 500 new in 2011. After a few weeks I went to check the pressures and found that galvanic corrosion had virtually welded the things on! Luckily some careful work with two sets of grips got them off without damaging the valves. They were thrown in the bin with some force and the plastic ones re-fitted. Lesson learned!
