Today the yellow engine light came on and car started to peter out and stopped.since I have got it to start and run,but engine light still on.

Checked hand book and it says that on the fiat 500 this light illuminates when there is a fault with petrol injection system.

As any one else had this and where shall I start looking for problem other than a code reader.

You need to get the codes read. People could make educated guesses, and you could throw money at it, but the code will tell you exactly what's wrong (or at least, what the car thinks is wrong).

If you say where you are someone nearby might offer to plug your car into MES.

There's "hundreds" of reasons the light will come on, its slightly concerning the car actually stopped, often the light comes on and the car drives normally.

Your only option is to have the fault codes read and go from there, you'll need the right leads and correct software in order to do so, a standard code reader won't work unfortunately.

I would advise against driving the car.

Ive put a OBD2 Reader on and it showed no codes, but reset codes any way.
Conection wire for fuel pump as a isolator switch built in for security and it seems that may be the problem as I changed switch and all seems OK.
