Help...

My partners 500 has suddenly come up with 3 faults at the same time (just b4 the mot)

The passenger side brake light bulb blew.

After it was replaced she now has a brake booster eml/mil light, the stop start won't switch on (battery good) and the cooling fan is on as soon as the car starts.

Any ideas? Could one thing cause another?

Jamie

As a no cost, no tools, option I would do a good old fashioned reset ( like back in the days of early pewters!) and dis-connect the battery for about 10 mins and then with fingers crossed connect it back up and hope for the best, the simple fact of a lamp failing might just might have upset the system somehow as the Italians and not famous for superlative electronics!
Dis-connect the Negative terminal only ( this will suffice for this operation) using the quick clamping clip on the battery terminal.
Unless I'm mistaken you do not need any codes for any factory ICE.

Well did as suggested seems to have cleared the eml for the brake booster, so thanks for that.

Still have no stop start or reverse light-bulb okay and replaced- so thinking it maybe the clutch switch at the top of the pedal?

Cooling fan...guess as long as it's on it'll just take longer to get heating in the car so probably just the switch on the rad/fan that needs replacing no biggie.

Only other thing how do you get the clutch switch off?

Car will get hot and the temp gauge will go above the middle with a non working resistor. I had a busted one and it almost overheated.

Just to clarify, you replaced the BRAKE bulb(and now works) but you have no reversing light? plus fan/SS?

Does your car have AC? if not the system is simple there is NO switch for the fan(as in older cars on the rad) the car uses the temp sensor and the car switches the fan relay(R6 under bonnet) and there is no resistor, so the book says, what does the temp gauge say?
If reversing light issue first try fuse 87? under bonnet

Will check the fuses when she gets home, she's just told me the mil light has come back on so back to the drawing board.

Yes ac is fitted, fan comes on as soon as engine is switched on and doesn't overheat.

With the engine on or the ignition on (I'm assuming the fan starts as soon as the key is turned even before you actually start the engine) Remove relay 7 if nothing changes replace and remove relay 6 note which one stops the fan and replace. Also does the fan stop with the ac fully off?

FIXED IT, after checking every thing with a multi meter and finding...bugger all all fuses tested fine....decided to pull them individually and visually inspect them....and guess what fuse F51 had blown but was touching barely...replaced it and all systems go! No lights no faults and a new mot.

Thank you for all your help
