My other half said, oil filter housing? He thinks don’t quote him on that tho x

Yes, that looks like the oil filter housing (1.3 diesel).

There's a rubber O-ring under there .. so if you have some basic tools, check the tension on the bolts (but resist the temptation to tighten them to buggeration).

If the bolts don't respond (tighten) when you try to tighten them, remove the cover and make sure the o-ring is seated properly.

If it is, it could be an old one, that was not replaced when the filter was last changed. Clean all the oil off it and the seat (use WD40) and then re-fit it with some gasket sealant around it.

Next time you change the oil, also change the filter. Filter should come with a new o-ring but some cheapo ones may not .. or it may be missing/nicked.. so check that your filter comes with an O-ring before you buy it.

Other than the oil being messy, a slight weep won't cause any problems, so no need to worry and you can still use the car if the oil level looks okay.

Its also possible the old oil ring got stuck to the car side due to over tightening, and the new one screwed over the top? though any decent mechanic would have seen it?

Finally had chance to take it apart today with good weather
Doesn't seem to be any o ring on it would explain the small leak also a lot of grime around the housing so cleaned it all up and refitted and will see how it goes like that

Anyone else has trouble finding 5w-40 c2 oil only seems to be c3 or the c2 but only in 1l container's
Rather not have to get 3 of them

Buy a new filter, comes with new rubber sealing ring, they are not expensive. Rub some clean oil round the ring when fitted to plastic body, do not over or under tighten, best way is to tighten up to the point it stops, then a wee nip up. The metal cover with the three bolts is just a heat shield.
