hello everybody, I had a 2008 fiat500 dualogic in Hong Kong, I just find there had some problem in gearshift ,when the car ran for severl time, it is differcult to engage R gear, So I decide to take off the gearbox actuator for reconditioning, I tried to detach it after removal of the battery and a water pipe, I had tried once again & again, it seem that there had not enough space to take it out. Does anyone done it before??
The part is same as this

Hello MikeMike,
Sorry that you have not had a reply.
I suggest that you will need to take the front off the car for access. The bumper (cover) comes off easily, then you can unscrew the large bolts securing the crossmember and the front structure.

The engine radiator should be disconnected but the air conditioning condenser can stay connected if you swing the front structure open like a door/gate and rest it on tyres/drums etc on the right-hand side of the car. I have done this when replacing the turbo on a diesel 500, and I have removed the Dualogic actuator from a Grande Punto, so combining the two experiences is what makes me suggest taking the car’s front off :) it’s not particularly difficult, just bolts to undo.

However, after this step, I also suggest removing the gearbox from the engine to check and possibly replace the clutch. If the clutch is dragging (not disengaging fully) due to a worn fork or release bearing, that could explain the difficulty with selecting reverse. It might not be an actuator fault. Have you tried replacing the oil in the gearbox? (the gear oil not the Dualogic fluid)
