Technical Leaking water rear drivers side footwell.

Technical Leaking water rear drivers side footwell.

Doesn’t appear to be coming in through the front engine bay, nor the window (done with a watering can!)

I’ve read about the rear bumper bracket seal (I think it was!) if it was this would it leave traces of water in the boot? As I have none completely bone dry in the boot and under the wheel?

That’s really weird but I would still expect how the door shuts to be the culprit.

Nope, just the drivers side front and rear foot wells. The sponge under the carpet has soaked up so much water it can’t hold any more :-(

I think the boot would be wet too bu it’s worth checking the two seals. One is a long rectangle with flaps and the other is a small round top and square bottom. Move the boot carpet away from behind the bumper and you will see them.

Ahhhh it’s unlikely to be that then if the boot would expect to be we also, I’ll have a check tomorrow in the rear again.

Can’t believe I got rid of a perfectly good 2008 500 for this one that I have had nowt but issues with :-(

I’m sure it’s something easily fixed albeit a nightmare to find out what is the cause. My money is still on the door or a door seal.

I’m not overly confident it can be that. There is just too much water inside and using the watering can and hose the other day wouldn’t equate to that much water unless it’s been like it whole life of 2 and half years ?

When I had that problem it filled up the recess in the door card within about an hour.

Hopefully as it’s something that can be sorted and rectified pretty quickly :)

I’m ringing them tomorrow, but it will be a 3 week wait before it’s seen ?

I’ll keep you posted ??

As promised I said I would get back - went to a lnother fiat mai dealer and they confirmed by the damage and tell tail points that the car had been involved in some sort of accident and a badly done repair!! :-o and there was nothing they could do unless it went to the body shop at an expense to me or the other dealer!!

Any how I got back to the other dealer and I am no longer the owner of the car and got my full money back!!

Shocking !!!!

What a good result in the end, now you'll just need to find another car?

I know, I think I found another, but it’s 70 miles drive away to view it :-(

Still can’t get over it tho, be interesting to see what they do with the car now.

...but sadly not surprising.

Thanks for coming back to us.

As you know, I had my suspicions all along that it might turn out to be something like this.

Sadly the absence of any kind of recorded accident history is no proof that a car hasn't been involved in a significant accident and badly repaired.

A good result for you, though - and good also to hear that the supplying dealer has done the right thing.

Still can’t get over it tho, be interesting to see what they do with the car now.

If they really want to do the right thing and the bodyshell is that far out of alignment, they'd have it crushed.

What I suspect is more likely is that they'll send it to auction to get it out of the franchise.

If you feel able to post the registration number it might just save someone else from a nightmare experience.

You was indeed right - I couldn’t believe it would be, as being from a main dealer, I know exactly what to look out for now tho.

Viewing another car tomorrow, but nervous, I case I get something like it again :-(

Did they say where it was getting in?

They think it was more than like the seal, not the other up the top the one by the triangle bit, little hard to explain but as u shut the door left a massive hole basically.

Any how collect my new fiat today, from a completely different dealer, omg it’s amazing and immaculate compared to the last one ? 2 year old olnly 7k on the clock 105bhp (my last was 85bhp) sat nav and in black. I’m well happy, just watch this space when it rains ?? seriously tho all the seals are lined up, all the body work lines up and the carpets completely dry. Full service history, last service begging of March at £444 so I’m well happy. ?

Hi have you checked in the boot footwell where tyre is if there is water in there. I had same problem if you open boot and on the drivers side where the roof bends over to join the boot pillar there's a seam at top that leaks ( spray with water to check it, it runs down inside of boot Pillar into bottom of boot and down side of boot under back seat into drivers side rear footwell

I have the car back to fiat after I establish it had been involved in an accident. Got a new one now that don’t leak ?? lol

I’ve been awaiting my old leaky fiat 500 twinair 85BHP to pop back up for sale on autotrader where I first found it, not thinking to check the used “approved” fiat sales page, upon checking I was shocked to see it advertised on their page and for more than what I bought the car for! Couldn’t believe it.

I went to check again today to call fiat about it and it’s no longer on there, think someone has bought it :-( god help them. :-(
