Hi,
I have lost the battery compartment on the key to my Fiat 500 Pop - the bit that flips out to replace the button battery. Would I be able to buy just this part or do I have to get a full replacement key? I can use the key manually but I would like to have a remote key again if possible. Would appreciate any ideas/knowledge from members please. Got lots of help re my last issue

It may be cheap, but it looks to me like a piece of aftermarket tat.

The originals are made of a very hard plastic which copes well with daily use; copies may be very much less durable.

Probably not the same quality as an official one but if the guy only needs /wants the battery compartment more then good enough ?

Sure, but if all you want it for is the battery tray, then £4 is a bargain, even if the rest just goes in the bin.

I bought an eBay shell for my Renault - went straight in the rubbish.

It might be cheap, but there's someone making money just turning raw plastic into landfill.

Thanks for the link - I will check it out.

If you're at all handy you can cut a piece of random plastic to fit the battery compartment, and secure it with a silicone cover.

The silicone covers are great as they protect your OEM key casing as well as making it unlikely your key will ever slip out of your pocket or hand (just as you're walking over a storm water drain say).
