Right, Ive been a bit of an idiot but I don't mind sharing in order for others not to follow my dumb lead.
Got my invoice today and it totalled £908 inc VAT.

The labour was on top of the part at £55 an hour and that was plus VAT but I assumed was including. 4.5hrs labour (initially quoted 2hrs labour)

Part was £484.56 +VAT
Gasket £4.72 +VAT
Sundries £20+VAT

I now wish I'd of got a WRITTEN quote so that there was no confusion.

I know I've been a silly boy but just want to emphasise GET A WRITTEN QUOTE especially when like me you are trying out a new garage for the first time.
Can't blame anyone but myself....lesson learnt the hard way.
Wow ?

One thing I find wrong with a lot of things
Unless it is a trade place no place should be listing or quoting prices without vat being included

Thats what annoys me, this whole +VAT thing when dealing with the public. Its not like I can claim it back and its a garage that modifies alfa romeos not a trade garage that services vans. Never mind......now I'll have to use overtime money to pay my credit card off instead of treating myself :bang:

Seems very reasonable for a replacement actuator! You would pay a lot more from Fiat.
You must have realised that it was going to cost more than £484, as you copied the link to the part which is £439+VAT+Shipping?
Yes the multiair unit is very sensitive to oil changes... must be C3 5w40 and ideally changed every 6-8000miles
