Could also have just been a defective clutch it does happen before jumping to the it's been clocked department
Especially since the guy has already said the not history backs up the millage

Clutches...
Barring manufacturing defects...can be DEAD within 5k miles due to:
Excess heat...ABUSE
Oil contamination...faulty g.box seals
Juddering..Incorrect bedding in of fibre plates.


That discounting another issue like DMF. etc

Our new panda was onto its 4th clutch within 20k miles...judder issues

My old Grandads FIAT did 500 miles.. twice on replacement clutch packs ..ABUSE
