That being said it's quite hard to tell what wire you are talking about without any sort of location or pictures

Where ever it goes it can only be within the reach of the cable maybe behind engine block?

I know it goes behind the engine, I did get underneath and have a look but couldn’t see exactly what it could connect to.

Yes the connector near the top with the yellow part looks like it has a plug in place unless I'm missing something which is quite possible

No I did check the alternator. Yes the one at the top with the yellow part has a plug in it.

I think between your picture and the OP's, the plug goes in that yellow bit.

That sensor needs a connection and you have one. So unless its been swapped at some point, I am lost.

Yes I had to change the loom but forgot where that one connector went lol
