Hi, I'm new in hear so sorry if this problem was discussed before as I could not find anything relevant.
So I picked up my first fiat500 lounge semi auto yesterday 09 plate and sunroof does not work, when you press the button nothing happens, even motor does not kick in. I was hoping maybe some one can point me right direction where to start looking for problem! Many thanks!

Yes unless these cars by 8 years have been really well looked after by their previous owners there no longer cheap run a rounds.

I really like the dualogic gearbox control if it is working well, but by 7 to 8 years there beginning to cause problems.

Fiat want something in the region of £1800 - £2000 to put this right.
The cheapest you will get a new replacement gearbox control for is £907 (inc VAT) and perhaps three hours labour at a Fiat specialist.
There is a supplier than can do recon ones for around £325 with a three month guarantee.
No one wants to put you off, but unless this car was cherished, that kind bill can be as much as was paid for it.

Thanks for the cheer up!!! It's to late, I got the car now and previous owner said he done a gearbox so finger crossed it will last me a bit. Car wasn't looked after very well, it need some proper tlc, but that's wont be a problem and most of work I can do it myself. Reason for asking about sunroof, because I hoped maybe some one had a same issues before. Will take it all a part and see what's the crack, if I will find something interesting I will post here. That gearbox was right pain in the a....s to get use to it...

So I though, I will write a little update how I'm getting on. Today after work had a bit time to look at the car, after closer investigation turns out sunroof switch has been disconnected, so obviously for reason. So I connected back and motor star working and something is happening, it did lift up but did not go backward, just a tiny bit and then did not close. So there we are again, sunroof was sitting in some weird angle so I pulled the roof lining off and on one side which hold I think cables in place, there was two screws missing, ok. Done that, manage to close and reset the sunroof, but it still does not work properly. Goes back maybe a half way, I think, to be honest I do not know how far back it goes, but when you sitting in car you can see half open, basically sunroof front sit in middle of the hole if that makes sense. It feels like something is blocking to move properly. Sliders looks pretty greasy. So I was thinking maybe get hole sunroof out and take everything a part and see what the heck is going on.
Has anyone remove sunroof before, how hard it is to do it? Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks

Have you tried the reset that's mentioned in the owners manual:

INITIALISATION PROCEDURE
After the battery has been disconnected or a fuse
has blown, the operation of the sliding roof must be
initialised again.
Proceed as follows:
❒ keep the button A fig. 46 pressed so that the roof
closes completely in stages
❒ after full closing, wait for the sun roof motor to
stop

If you don't have an owners manual you can download one here:
