Hello!
My FIAT 500 passenger side airbag on the dashboard has obviously swollen from the heat in Cyprus and has displaced the dashboard. I want to change this and it seems I will have to change the complete dashboard.
Has anyone else faced this issue?

Hello and welcome.

My FIAT 500 passenger side airbag on the dashboard has obviously swollen from the heat in Cyprus and has displaced the dashboard. I want to change this and it seems I will have to change the complete dashboard.

Has anyone else faced this issue?

My usual suggestion would be to source a suitable secondhand replacement dashboard from a salvage dealer - I don't know how realistically feasible that is in Cyprus. Obviously you'd need to find one which wasn't similarly afflicted. It's not a problem in the UK climate, but we do have other weather-related issues, like sticking brake pads and rusting rear beams.

There are plenty available in the UK - @typecastboy has changed a few and may have something useful to add.

Yes, you will have to take the whole dash out. Takes me about 4 hours to take out and replace but I've done it a few times. It's all in the Haynes manual. Be sure to disconnect the battery first. Steering wheel, cowling, speedo, radio, air con controls, centre console etc all have to come out first. It's not difficult but a bit daunting if you've never done it. If you need any help, give me a shout.

How old is the car? It might be worth approaching you fiat dealer and arguing that this should not happen at any time in the car's life and see if they will replace gratis or contribute to the costs
