As most know I drive an 0.9 twin air with turbo. Normally mpg is mid thirties.
Today I drove to Birmingham , then to Somerset. ( columns in that order !)

Total mileage. 190.3 165.2

Total time. 3.48 hrs. 3.43

Mpg. 47.7. 50.0

Av speed 49 mph. 41mph

Strange how much speed you need to get that average !!!

I haven't had figures that good for months ?

Mileage results

You must drive it hard? In my TA normal everyday mpg is mid to late 40's, current mpg 180 miles in to a tank is 53, helped by the current warm weather and lighter morning traffic with schools closed. I drive typically a mixed urban route. I could get in to 60's no prob on a steady long run once I keep the top speed legal!

Claimed mpg on a 500 10mpg more than my Panda TA 4x4, and yours has managed it. I'm commuting (mostly motorway) and tucking in behind lorries. Just under 42mpg worked out with calculator. Really can't get any more. Oh well. :bang:

It must be that you live in a flat area then.

50 odd MPG is something I dream about.

Best I've ever managed is 51.85mpg taking it easy driving Up North and back on the motorway and A30 circa 60mph and a light right foot.

Worst is 33.24mpg driving locally, again with a light right foot.

Mick.

I have a twinair 105, I did a reset on the last fill up, currrently done 360 miles with two blocks still showing on the guage, 57mpg and 39 mph, I'm pleased with that on my work commute.
My other car did 30mpg at best, it is a 190e Merc auto with a 2.6 straight 6 in it though.

My personal best with my 2014 TA80* is 4.73 l/100km (60 mpg), achieved last summer when driving mainly countryside trips. On the dashboard it showed even 4.6 l/100km (61 mpg). However, my average over 45000 km (28000 miles) is 5.40 l/100km (52 mpg) when driving mostly on the motorways.

*) Indeed no TA85, but a TA80. This one has option 7JE "riduzione co2 depotenz. mercato olanda", meaning "CO2 reduction red. pow. Dutch market" in English.

re: Mileage results & random EV musings

Aren't these supposed to do 68mpg combined!!??? All sounds pretty terrible!

69 iirc! I'm happy enough with 50's taking in to account the performance and fun of the TA, I did get 67 once with some effort over a 50 mile round trip and can get early 60's on a long run easily with smooth, not necessarily slow, driving. Can't complain really. The problem was Fiat quoting 69 in the first place. It'll be interesting to see with the new regs what it's quoted at.

Gently rolling along on the flat, the car is very economical, and 60mpg is very easy.
Come to a hill, and the economy plummets. I mean a real hill, not a slope.

Set the Trip Computer to instantaneous fuel consumption and watch the figures.

I live in a flat area - it's called Australia! I average about 38.5mpg, but I don't try very hard and most of my driving is suburban. I fill my car up once a month whether it needs it or not.

re: Mileage results & random EV musings

I'm working on 65mpg this tank with a 27mph avg.

re: Mileage results & random EV musings

Just checked ours it's currently sitting on 42mpg but it only does 6 miles a day ?. But I've taken it on a run from king's Lynn to Peterborough a few times and it's been up at 59 mpg (not in sport mode) I suppose it does help we live in one of the flatest parts of the UK.

re: Mileage results & random EV musings

Our 1.2 is doing 43.5mpg and it's pretty constant regardless of season.
That's very strange. There are several reasons why fuel consumption is higher when it's cold outside: Oil viscosity is higher when starting a cold engine, which increases friction losses; it takes longer to warm up the engine; air density is larger, which increases aerodynamic drag; ...

500TA
I rarely use the Trip Computer, so just been out and looked.

Since last reset.
1687.1miles
40.6mpg

Greetings,
Mick.

It's probably due to our short runs with the occasional 15 mile run

re: Mileage results & random EV musings

Just checked my records.
This is the first car that I've ever kept fuel and mileage records for, and goodness knows why I do it. I have a spresdsheet.:yum:

Bought the car 1st Nov 2014 at 13,850miles.
Since then, I've filled 339.29 Imperial gallons - 1,515.18 Litres - into the tank at a grand total of £1,687.21
As of last fill-up, we're at 27,509miles, therefore done 13,438miles

That's 40.32mpg

Just thought you'd like to know,
Mick.

re: Mileage results & random EV musings

My is pretty inconsistent at the moment. I own the 2015 1.4 S. I just filled my tank today and the average was 30mpg or 7.8/100km. I filled the tank last week and was driving with the sport mode on and automatic. Later changed to manual.

I drive mostly in suburban areas. I'll monitor this week and see as this was one of the worst measurements I got. I usually get on eco mode on/manual 34mpg or 6.8/100km, which I still think could be improved.

What annoys me is that even stepping on the gas just a bit, moves the eco index to 3. When I'm down hill and not stepping on the gas, the index shows 4. How can I be more economical than not stepping on the gas lol.
