Has anyone replaced the clutch slave cylinder including the pipe immediately connected to it ?
I have a new one to fit due to the pipe connection to cylinder rusting, new one comes complete but the connection to the existing pipework(other end of pipe) has what looks like a push fit once non removable type fitting, if so how do I even get the old one apart?

what year and model and engine is your 500?
Where did you get new slave cylinder ?
what is part number of new slave cylinder if it is on packaging?
 
1.2 59 plate part was from Carparts4less and looks exactly the same this is a picture of where it joins, the yellow part in the picture is the same as the silver part on the new one? where they join there's a plastic bush (zoom in) picture plastic part has a crack in it too

Great pictures really helpful.
To disconnect push white plastic bush in toward centre of quick release.joint will easily pull apart when bush evenly and fully pushed in.
Bush possibly split from someone being ham fisted in past, fingers crossed won't make your task more difficult.
Don't mangle plastic bush or you will never get it apart.
Don't pull on joint until bush fully inserted.
 
The white plastic bush is pushed toward opposite end of quick connect .
To refit just push two parts together, that's the easy part.

Don't worry about crack the plastic bush is only for releasing the joint it serves no other purpose. So long as you can get it apart you will be fine.
 
Hi John202020, I am resurrecting this old thread since I am trying to do the same exact thing on my 2012 Fiat 500, with the same LUK part. I got to the quick connect but (exactly like your pictures) the white plastic bush is cracked and very difficult to move. I wanted to ask: did you manage to get it apart in the end? How did you do that? Accessibility to the quick connect isn't great so I was wondering if I could use a special tool (I've seen some online, but they're all from the US). Thanks you! Cheers, Andrea

Hi I eventually just opted to replace both the slave and the master cylinder, turns out was a good thing as the master was weeping behind the dash that could not be seen so I had the luxury of all new parts.

If you do try to get it apart I suggest a collar that goes most of the way round the probably now brittle plastic?

Ah, well done. I was thinking of doing the same, even if I do not necessarily need to replace the master at this stage.

Yes, the plastic is probably brittle, but it is also cracked... So I am also afraid it can be an issue when fitting the new mating quick connect. I didn't take a picture unfortunately.


The other thing was: I could try to disconnect the pipe on the slave cylinder itself (by pulling the small metal clip), replacing just the cylinder and keeping the existing pipe. Clearly this means I'll then need to bleed the circuit.
Would that be more asily doable?
