So had the rear shocks changed on Thursday after an MOT fail.
Still have a really bad rattle coming from rear tailgate, so far I have:

Removed parcel shelf
Folded down rear seat
Re-secured the boot trim under the glass (some of the clips were loose)
Removed the spare wheel and tools

Noise still there, sat in the back and think its definitely coming from under the car, has anyone any suggestions before heading back to the garage?

I had the handbrake cables replaced in 2012, could it be them that need replacing again?

Have you checked that the tailgate itself has no play in it? Not sure if you can loosen the slam plate and push it down slightly so it closes the tailgate more firmly?

I'm doing the rear shock bushes on ours today but I have a funny feeling I'm going to be in the same boat as this after the job is done.

Exhaust feels ok, checked the tailgate and there is no play in that when shut.
Checked the seat belt buckles too.

Off to garage tomorrow who did the shocks, will report back.

I replaced my rear shocks with bilstein b4's and a rattle appeared, took them off and put original fiat ones on and the rattle disappeared!

It was a rattle that sounded like something was loose, i.e. Boot not shut properly.

Hi, just reviewing posts linked to tailgate rattles and i noticed your response here Happybubbas; did you have a tailgate rattle and changing the rear shocks stopped it?

The rattle appeared when I replaced the original fiat shocks to bilsteins. It was as if the nut and bolt was too small for the bilsteins and that’s what caused the noise, When I put the originals back in the noise went.

Has the car had the rear shocks upgraded??
