I have a 2014 500c duel logic and must say I love it. I sell BMW cars for a living and have just opted out of my company car in order to use the FIAT on a daily basis.

I bought the auto option as driving in and out of Sheffield every day can be somewhat tiring, especially when auto us all you are used to.

My worry is, that since joint the forum and reading all the different threads relating to grief and hassle owners have had with the gearbox, I'm now slightly concerned.

The research I did before buying the car, seemed to say that all was good with the box and no real problems had been reported.

Don't know of it me, but my car does seem to have a little wine in first and second but is smooth and is quite in all other gears.

Please advise.

Most dualogic problems are with the actuating mechanism, not the gearbox itself. A small amount of whine in the intermediate gears is not altogether uncommon, but if it is excessive, it's possible one of the gearbox bearings may be starting to fail.

Before doing anything else, check the gearbox oil level (NOT the selespeed fluid level), and check the underside of the gearbox and diff for leaks - low oil level will cause both excessive noise and excessive wear. You'll need to get under the car with tools to do this.

Whine in the intermediate ratios isn't indicative of the usual issues, which generally relate to an inability to select or stay in gears, or the display of a bewildering array of error messages and warning lights.

Thanks, the whining isn't bad but will definitely checking the oil level. How and where us this located, and do you know the typenofnoipninwill need bis it special or standard 75w90.

Fiat talked me in to a two year extended warranty as long as I have it serviced by them. Whilst I am a little worried hopefully it should all be covered. Love the little 1.2 engine, very slow but not a bad thing now the speeding laws have changed.
