Technical Remote key question

We all have blanks because it costs an actual fortune to get us all proper keys.

In any case, I think the maximum number of 'proper' keys that can be coded to the vehicle is 8.

I like the pragmatic solution that's been implemented here; after all, who's to know?

Fifteen seater, there's plenty places to hide a key. (y)

From what I can remember of the committee meetings prior to the purchase of this bus, it was a big problem regarding the keys with the Fiat.

The last bus was a Merc Sprinter. Not so much of an issue with the keys if I remember correctly, and the previous bus - can't remember the make - wasn't an issue at all.

Regards,
Mick.

Thanks folks. I have decided that she will have to do without the Fiat remote key.
Has anyone any experience of fitting an eBay remote locking kit? Where did you access the indicator/boot/locking cables?

I will still get a spare cloned key somewhere just as a back up in case my daughter loses hers!

The cost and particularly the time factor, just pay for a new remote key, it may turn out to be "why did I start this" experience.

Slight change to the original question of this thread. I have a non remote key for my car. No code and no remote key. I have a working remote key from the car I broke. Can I get the blade cut so it will go in the ignition and then use MES to program it to the car. It’s definitely within the MES capability to do it, but there’s a possibility I may need a code to do it?

I'm fairly sure you'll need the code card for the vehicle. Available from your Fiat dealer at wildly varying prices. There are threads.

Judging by the amount of 500’s being stolen without keys, you clearly don’t.

I'm not aware of any particular problem with conventional keyed Fiats, they are generally pretty secure. The latest keyless ones may be more at risk. There does seem to have been some cases of parts, even complete front bumpers and bonnets being stolen from 500s, but that's not key immobiliser related. Neither is key burglary or towing the car away.

MES does, but this post would indicate that other 'tools' are available. The need for such tools by a professional locksmith is clear; but it is equally clear that such tools, in less scrupulous hands, could be used for unlawful porposes.

Interesting, I know some suppliers can clone the immobiliser transponder from a working key but not sure how that supplier is doing it.
Be interesting to see how they get on with Typecast boy and if they need access to the non-remote key that works.

No one has ever successfully ‘virginised’ a key for a 500. Welcome to give it a go, but I think you’re onto a loser.

It’s done! New remote key, coded and cut to the car. Was working perfectly then stopped so he gas to come back. Might be a dodgy key. Still starts the car but they’re,one has stopped. £180.

Did he need access to a working key?

The faulty remote could just be a dodgy battery, did you try a new one?

He had the spare key to cut the blade but pulled the code for the new remote key from the ecu with his £4K bit of kit.

I haven’t tried the battery but I will as he is coming back tomorrow.
