Went to the local Fiat Dealers yesterday to order the brushed chrome top to the gearknob as the chrome was split on mine. £158!!!

Obviously I'm not paying that. There aren't any on eBay and was wondering about changing the whole knob. All those in eBay seem to have adapters but screw onto a thread but the 500 has an internal thread that a bolt screws down from the top holding the knob on.

Anyone know how I can fit a third part knob?

I fitted an aftermarket one that I got off Amazon maybe by race sport. It was called Sumex 800087W Coronado Aluminium/ Leather Gear Knob - White.

I did then change it again as I wasn't keen on it and was lucky enough to get a genuine ivory leather one of eBay for £20! They normally sell for about £70.

The one I got of Amazon was a universal fit and works fine.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. How dies it fasten then? I saw some have an Allen key screw on the adaptor does it just tighten into the stick?

There's a plastic bit that goes over the end of the stick and then you push the knob over it and use an Allen key to tighten. I originally had the plain standard black knob and the universal one fitted fine and also worked with the lift for when needing to select reverse.

Have you tried looking on eBay for 500's that are being dismantled?
Also you could put a cheaper one on and keep an eye on eBay in the hope that a sports one turns up?

Nothing on eBay at the moment. I found someone selling Abarth ones for £14.99 so I've bought one of them for now. I'll continue to look for eBay ones though. Thanks for the info.

I changed mine to a universal one, since those pictures I have reinstalled the reverse lock as when driving when changing upto 5th if go over too far the reversing light comes on and if the wipers are on so does the rear one. IMG_4214.JPGIMG_4220.JPGIMG_4222.JPG

I went for an aluminium knob. It was about £7. It doesn't lock or screw to the existing gear knob post, although the adapter plugs it came with were a really tight fit to the post and so a few light taps with a hammer and it was in place. The new knob then screwed into the adapter plug and into place. It doesnt move or twist.
