Connecting iPhone through Blue and Me

I will need to purchase a Blue and Me dongle to connect my iPhone to my 2010 500 pop, however, I am concerned that it is not compatible with my iPhone 7. Is this the case?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Tbh, you'd probably do better just to buy a memory stick and transcode anything you want to watch into .mp3 format.

Thanks, I thought of that, but it's for my daughter and she streams most of her music through Spotify.
Which I believe is possible, as long as you have at least one track in your iTunes.

Sorry to be so thick, but I can connect the iPhone 7,through bluetooth, to the car and the display on the radio says blue and me. Does this mean that it already has B&M installed and won't need a dongle? Also, I can't play music, just use the phone functions, such as calls and texts.

No, you can't use Blue&Me to play music over bluetooth because Fiat have chosen not to implement A2DP functionality into Blue&Me.

A great pity, as otherwise you could have used the car's ICE system as a remote speaker for essentially any app that would work with whatever phone you might have.

You should still be able to use Blue&Me for hands free calling, not sure if it'll work with text; some phones do, but most don't.

The phone won't play music when connected to the USB either. I assume, to do this, I will still need the Blue & Me dongle to go through, even though the radio has Blue & Me for bluetooth.

It won't on a 2009 car; you'll need the dongle if you want to play music from an iPhone via Blue&Me. Even with the dongle, it might not be compatible with the latest iPhones, so check before purchasing as the dongles aren't that cheap. These dongles were designed back in the days of iPhone 3; they'll certainly work at least up to an iPhone 5S, but I'm not sure beyond that.

Later cars can play music from an iPhone without the dongle, but functionality is still very limited.

Re: Connecting iPhone through Blue and Me

In my 2011 1.2 500c Lounge, I use two cables - one AUX cable to the headphone jack of the phone and another usb cable to power the phone. Phone sits in a magnetic, air vent cradle. It's a bit ugly, but works fine.

You could buy a Denison gateway or Xcarlink phone adapter this gives you music streaming and control via the radio buttons as well as phone, £80-130 though no radio display aa such.

Re: Connecting iPhone through Blue and Me

Can anyone help me please. I have a similar problem. I have fitted an aux cable and set up Bluetooth, so I can make and receive calls when the aux is plugged in no problem. However, I can't play music even though I've download the Blue&Me app for music on my iphone. The only time the music comes on is if I've just finished a call, for a few seconds, or if I go to Media Player and select 'Play Anything' and again 'Voice' shows on the display and it plays for a few seconds. Argh! Any help greatly appreciated. I have a 6 hour drive tomorrow!
