Hi

First time poster so please excuse ignorance. I'm sure these questions have been asked previously but I couldn't find anything.

We've just bought a 2008 500 Lounge and have a number of minor issues.

The illumination behind the 2 right hand heater dials on the dash are not working. Is there an easy fix rather than a visit to a dealer?

The only way of opening the boot is through the key fob. The soft touch release under the boot handle doesn't work. Any ideas?

The key fob is old and tired on the actual rubber push button area. I've found new fobs on line but they look as though they only replace the casing and not the rubber facia. Is this the case?

Thanks in advance for any advice and help.

I know this sounds stupid but our 59 plate has the same boot lid issue as yours though ours is intermittent, I've found a couple of hard "knock knock" taps on the top of the silver bit in the middle and then the boot release switch works, next time it may work fine or be a case of knock knock again, all I can think is sticking contacts in the micro switch that controls the electronic release mechanism.

And replace the fob battery CR2032

I changed one of the bulbs today. I don't know what the video shows, but make sure you use some pointed nose pliers gently to pull out the bulb. You can't get it with your fingers. Don't squeeze to hard or the glass will break and then it's a real job to get out.

New one just pushes in.

Hi and welcome .

If it still unlatches using the remote fob then it's most likely the microswitch inside the boot handle mechanism. It may just be dirty (a common problem as the 500 rear end collects a lot of muck). Spraying with an electrical contact cleaner may be enough to free it, but don't use WD40 as it will both attack the plastic (especially the wiring) and encourage more dirt to collect.

I've got a 09 1.3 mj,did my car have lights behind the heater dials, only the air con tab on the dial lights up.
Thanks

Thanks. A great help. I'll try all suggestions and let you know how I get on.
