Hi there. After owning my Panda for 3 years, I knew my next car would have to be a Fiat too, however, I wanted something funkier.
So here I am, proud owner of a new 500 Popstar T/A. I love it! It's like a little blue rocket ❤️. Bella's her name :)
Anyway, 3 weeks in, I've found one problem. The panoramic roof, which looks great, lets in way too much sun. It's late Spring in South Africa and I'm already getting forehead burn driving around town. With our hottest months ahead, I need to find a solution. The mesh screen provides no protection whatsoever.
I'm not even talking about how Bella turns into an oven when left out for an hour or so ( It gets hot here, some things you live with).
I don't want to get my brain fried, so any ideas on how to keep out the sun in the hot season? I'm sure I'll enjoy it when the weather turns cold again, so nothing permanent

yes I live in Greece and know exactly what you mean. When I left the car in the sun and got in the car the heat was unbearable! What I did was tint the window with some high quality Johnson Window Tint film. 70% tint if i remember correctly. Since then my problems finished. I don't even use the useless window mesh anymore = )

That's weird, I thought all automotive glass is already UV tinted out of the factory these days? (thus aftermarket window tinting is mainly for reducing visibility to people looking into the car)

it's tinted, but not nearly enough. It is about 20% tinted, with my new tint it is 70% tinted. It makes a huge difference. Also higher quality tints remove the IR and the UV radiation. Seriously try it if in a hot climate! I am considering tinting the rest of my windows with the lightest tint possible.

Hi. I've a 500x here in FL and find I've got the same issue. I'm going to have the sunroof glass tinted out to about 30 ( privacy glass rating here ) I think that will help

Happy to know the tint works. How long have you had it on? I've heard that it bubbles after a while? Might be the brand, so will check it out.

thanks (y)

Pretty much what I was going to say, vinyl wrap the roof(carbon fiber effect?), then it would be non see through.
Myth Busters did a test, black or white bodied car , which gets hotter inside ,answer both the same ( almost)

I don't think car colour makes any difference at all. I've owned white and dark cars.
As for the tint, It does get chilly in winter, but still have good sun to warm the car, so I'd prefer not to do a permanent block out. But if no other solution, that's what I'll do.

its a disgrace completely useless. with my new tinting i don't even use the roller blind

Thanks! Totally useless. Actually feels magnified with the blind. Only thing it could be good for would be to hold some board between me and the glass until I get the tint done :D.
