The idiot Trump has announced that he is going to impose a 45% tariff on goods imported from Mexico and China . Does he not realise that most goods in America are made in China but more importantly for this forum, aren't the Fiat 500s from the US market made in Mexico?

I guess Trump would rather Americans bought cars which are made in Detroit than ones made in Toluca.

Perhaps the idea behind the policy is to force international companies like FCA to relocate their manufacturing facilities back to the continental USA?

And although I don't agree with most of his policies, I wouldn't describe someone as an idiot after they'd just persuaded 50+ million folks to elect them into the most powerful position in the world.

who buys Fiats in the USA? I really didn't see that many on my trip to LA recently. Only a handful of Fiats, they look so out of place there when you see so many big cars on the road = )

And of all the places in the USA, I'd have thought California was the 500's natural habitat.

They all drive the same cars as us now, so not sure how they were out of place compared to all the "big cars".

Companies like Apple have been told they would have to move manufacturing back to the states, but Apple make far more money out of America and their main competitors all manufacture out of the country so if apples prices go up then so will Samsung and every other manufacturers price

absolutely not. some of the best selling cars in the UK do not even exist in the USA. I am talking VW Polo, BMW 1 Series, Audi A1, Ford Fiesta. Cannot even buy them even if you wanted to.

USA has much bigger cars on average than UK/EU. Petrol is half the price, roads are MUCH BIGGER, parking is rarely an issue unless you are downtown Chicago, Boston, Miami, not even in LA did i have any parking issues, parking spaces there would fit 2 Fiat 500's = )

As far as the average American is concerned, the Fiat 500 is a gimmick for Italy lovers who have many other cars and just want a toy = ), or feminists who find the car very cute. In fact, all the Fiat 500's I saw on the road were actually driven by women, at least in LA!

It is the streets of Athens, Rome, hilly, tiny roads that the Fiat 500 excels. Not the boulevards and huge roads of the USA.

Well you can buy the fiesta, that's just not true. BMW Has factories in the USA they build the cars there to bring down costs, but factories have a capacity, one of the biggest selling BMWs in North America is the x3 which doesn't sell well at all here. They are not going to use capacity to build the 1 series there when the 2 and 3 series are fine for most customers who want a car like that, and it makes a small car very very expensive if you import it from Europe.

My point about the size of the cars is that they have the same GM Opel Vauxhall models now, they have the mini and the same volvos. They have the same fords including the fiesta and they have the same Japanese cars including the Yaris.

So compared to the other cars on the road in the USA or Europe, fiat 500s stand beside the same cars which every continent you're on.

This is what I mean by the cars are the same size. I'm not saying they do or don't have other small cars.

And yes they have a lot of SUVs but most are again the same Europe model cars

Ford will sell you and Excursion or F350 in Europe? 90% of SUV's built in North America don't make it out of NA. Things like the Chevy Tahoe, Toyota Sequoia & Dodge Durango come to mind.

The best selling car in Europe is the VW Golf (and it's followed by smaller cars still), the best selling vehicle in the US is the F150, so it's probably fair to say the average US vehicle is twice as big as the average European car, even if there are model for model equivalents, they get bigger engines, like the V6 in the Ford Transit Connect :D

And do the media brain washed liberals not realise that having everything made in China might at some point become a problem?

We had a new children's hospital built here last year, it's fully of CHINESE MADE ASBESTOS - which goes well with the asbestos found in their cars. Australian baby formula was selling on eBay for $200 a bottle to the Chinese because the Chinese don't trust their own goods. Then there was the story of
the woman electrocuted by a Chinese branded phone charger.

That's before we even get to the issues of human rights, the south China sea, environment etc etc.

Never have I seen such blatant media bias, it's laugh out loud funny.

PS the next 500 will be built exclusively in Poland.
