Just curious on the fuel cap - are there caps available without a lock ? I find it a hassle to always lock / unlock it. I remember fuel theft from the early 70s when there was the oil crisis and it may happen again when the reserves finally run out (30 years from now ?) but at the moment I don´t see a reason to lock the tank.

Most of the UK cars come without a locking cap. A locking cap is available as an accessory. So yes, you can get a non-locking cap. You should be able to remove the key with the cap 'unlocked', so leaving it unlocked.

The filler neck is supposed to resist syphoning, so a locking cap was deemed unnecessary. Thieves these days will not bother trying to syphon it, they jab a sharp screwdriver into the tank from below, catch what they can in a bucket, and move on letting the rest drain onto the road. A locking cap will not prevent that, but mine still feels better than not locking it.

There is an Abarth fuel cap that will fit that doesn't lock. Not cheap, they pop up for sale at anywhere between £30 and £50.

It's not just theft of petrol that locking petrol caps protect against. It is not unknown for some people to have 'fun' by pouring sugar into people's fuel tank!
