Dear all,

New member here but have been scouring this forum and the net for an answer which I haven't yet found.

Basically I have a 2011 Fiat 500 Twinair with what appears to be the First Gen Blue & Me system.

I have what appears to be a combined USB/AUX port as in the attached photo. Can someone please confirm that the round hole exactly atop the USB socket is a 3.5mm aux audio socket?

If so, I am not managing to get the Fiat radio to switch to AUX no matter what procedure I try (click CD twice, cycle SRC etc...)

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I can't even find a Blue&Me Supplement for the First Generation systems :(

Don't know what the hole above the USB socket is but it certainly isn't an AUX port.

Mine is also a 2011, but it seems I have the 2nd gen B&M.

You can find the manual for both 1st and 2nd gen systems from Blue&Me website under Support. It's not exactly obvious, but once you've set up what you're after with the drop-down menus, click "INSTRUCTIONS", then click the white text under the blue "DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS". It doesn't look like a link, but it is.

You have the same socket as me: Fiat 500 on a 59 plate with Blue & Me.

However that socket is not a combined USB/AUX. It's USB only :(

Our cars can't do A2DP audio, and don't have an AUX socket.

If anyone does know how to add AUX in then please let us know!

Can we replace the socket shown in the photo with a combined one? Or can a cable be put in the back of the head unit?

I pulled the head unit out and it's a Bosch Fiat 312 MP3 (7 648 572 316).

Fiat 500 produced after 2010 have a proper AUX jack alongside the USB port. I have contacted a Fiat Dealer's parts department about replacing our USB only sockets with this combined socket, however they said
"I have had a customer try this before but when he tried to fit it, he had to return the part as the connection underneath is different so look like it can’t be done im afraid."

Whilst not cheap(£130) Xcarlink is an adapter that will connect your phone, hands free and music streaming and if also required has a standard line/aux input . Plug and play full steering wheel control of your phone.

Hi. Apologies for resurrecting an old thread. I’m in a similar situation to the original poster.

I’ve just bought a 2011 500 with blue and me. Annoyingly I’ve just noticed that the previous owner seems to have been a bit heavy handed with the USB port and it needs replacing. Seems easy Enough to get a replacement unit on eBay.

I would ideally like to add an aux socket so I can play music from my iPod Classic, but understand the aux/usb sockets can do directly replace the usb only socket.

I’m just wondering if a cable is available to replace what’s currently connected to the head unit to allow the use of the combined aux/usb socket.

Having read through other threads I’m pretty sure this isn’t possible but hoping there may have been developments since then and a simple solution found. While I’m confident enough in remiving the head unit, replacing cables etc, I may struggle with anything more technical than that.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

I’m a bit confused in what your asking it’s prob me sorry [emoji52] you can replace the blue &me aux port no probs it’s a pain though as you need to remove the centre console as for adding a usb is it just for power? As you can replace the ciggy lighter socket for a usb at the same time. Do you have steering wheel controls? Do you still have the original head unit ?

Apologies if I was unclear. The car currently doesn’t have an aux socket. This is something I would like to add if possible.

As far as I know the head unit is original and yes, the steering wheel has the controls.

I’ve managed to pop the USB port out easily enough.

So your replacing the original blue & me USB port? Ok do you have the old cigarette lighter next to it? You can replace that for a double usb they are cheap on eBay £3 get the round one that replaced the old round ciggy thing .. as far as a usb for anything else it’s not gonna work... your blue & me one will work & charge iPod/iPhone

There seem to be vonverters around -basically external sound boards-that transform Aux in to USB. I have not tried any of those, but you might give it a go, it will not break the bank.
The one shown below is an example, however they state it doesn't work on most car audio systems. And the mic in on PCs is usually mono. But maybe there are other converters around...

Why not just plug the iPod into the Ian socket, 2011 is perfect iPod era.

If you want to charge your phone as well then get a cig lighter phone charger with a 2amp + output as the fiat usb socket supplies very little power to charge a phone making it take a very long time to gain any useful charge
