Has anybody actually replaced the standard fog-light globes on the 500? The manual says "Take it to FIAT" but I'm loath to do that, having just been charged nearly $1000 for a service.

Can they be accessed by removing the splash trim in the wheel arch or is it possible to remove the grille and get to them that way?

The blanking plates that come on most cars just clip in, but clip in from behind I think from memory. There are no screws at all. I would imagine this is the same for the actual fog lights too. You could probably get to them from inside the grille, but you could take the whole bumper off in 10 minutes flat which would be much easier.

Thanks guys, that's really helpful, especially the video.

I was contemplating taking the bumper off in any case as I want to fit a compact FIAMM twin air-horn to replace the anaemic FIAT effort and also change the DRL's and high beams for something whiter. Looks like I can do it all in one fell swoop (when the weather's better anyhow).

Cheers.

I found after years of different types of road legal bulbs that at the moment these are the best in my opinion all round, I've found some on "your" Ebay site

These are the main beam, the dips are H7 assuming they're the same as here.

In the video they just pull the bumper sides away, if you use a flat blade screwdriver under the wing with a bright light you can ease apart the plastic fasteners un clipping it in a far more controlled manner which is how I did it.
