Whose upgraded. I updated to 3.1 yesterday from 2.9 and got the message that my licence had expired and I would have to purchase again or go back to earlier version. I feel a bit cheated as its only ever bug fixes as far as I can see.

Have you bothered?

I was unable to connect to the engine ECU to find out what's causing my triangle, engine and start stop lights to be on. Hatch wiring fine. I've ordered a new battery and a modified Elm327 cable so fingers crossed but not sure whether to just stick with v2.9.

Since you only use the 500 ECUs which you already have in 2.9 I personally wouldn't bother. The 500 TFT section doesn't seem to do anything anyway when I tried so I wouldn't pay out just for that.

I'm at 3.0
Tried to upgrade to 3.1 but I'm timed out payment-wise, so re-loaded 3.0

There's no way I'd bother to pay any more for upgrading to 3.1 and beyond.
It's been months since I even used the program, so it's just not worth upgrading.

Regards,
Mick.

All of us that have this program are grateful for it. The alternative would be to go to the dealer every time, pay their diagnostic charge, and try to get enough information out of them to properly understand the problem.
The guy who made this program, and maintains it, adding new vehicles, has quite a task on his hands, and does very well. I was surprised it was this cheap, and also surprised the licence was a one-off.
I would prefer an annual small fee, to keep it affordable, and acceptable, and to keep his income more fluid and manageable.
If none of us pay the upgrade, we have to rely on the professional users to pay. We do not want this to disappear.
A while ago I looked for a similar program for VW, and only found one at about £300. Can't remember where now, but managed without.
Could do with one for an older Suzuki van, but no joy there either.
Support what we have.

Edit: I've not tried upgrading yet, but the MES website suggests that earlier version owners can still upgrade for free. Is there something missing from the website front page, or are those of you being asked for more money doing something different, like moving the program to a different computer?

MES website says this:

- The License is valid for CURRENT VERSION of the multiecuscan software.
- The License is also valid for 1-YEAR FREE UPDATES of the multiecuscan software. After 1 year you can continue to use the software forever, but you will not be able to update it. The price of additional 1-YEAR updates is the same as the regular REGISTERED License price (50 EUR).

I've had mine for over a year, so I'm at the the most recent update I can have.
Is it worth 50 Euro to update for another year?
I doubt it.

Mick.

I've upgraded a couple of times. Actually one upgrade and one new licence so I now have a new version on my Toughbook and an older one on my older computer. You can move from computer to computer without paying an upgrade fee. It sounds like Typecastboys issue is an interface rather than software issue although normally the engine ECU is easy to connect to. I Agree with Portland Bill, we have a great resource in Multiecuscan and should support it. N neighbour had a Saab 95 (basically same mechanicals as my Croma) and had an issue. I checked for similar software and found nothing under several hundred pounds, similarly Vag-Com that I used to use when I had an S4 costs a couple of hundred pounds and was (is?) not as easy to use as MES.

Well I'm a college student so for me I wouldn't consider it worth it. Paying for something again that I already have doesn't seem logical, I'm all for supporting developers but I don't have £50 just sitting around to renew.

I agree it's a great bit of software for us mere mortals and professionals alike, but do I want to spend another 50 euros on something that probably won't do anything different on my 500s? Probably not.

Maybe if there was a major upgrade I might, but I think for now I'll stick with V2.9. I wish I had upgraded to V3 before my year was up as I believe that solved the ISO errors that keep coming up.

Don't know why I can't connect to the engine ECU, I have done before. It has seemed intermittent with different cars and different ECUs. My 63 plate Sport that was a Cat C wouldn't reset the Airbag ECU so I had to buy a second hand one but the one I've just completed reset with no problem.

Thanks for that. Took a bit of finding, as not on the home page, only on the payment page.
My original licence was for FiatECUScan, from Jan 2012, so I've had four years for my €50. It still seems a bit steep to pay the same every year. I'll probably not renew for another year or so.

I think an annual fee of €10-15 would have most people happy to pay. Above €20 and sales would drop off. Just my thoughts, perhaps others might like to suggest a fee.

First purchase should remain at €50, then an annual fee. Votes?

Connection problems may be addressed by reading post 5 of this thread: https://www.fiatforum.com/panda/352156-fiatecuscan.html (Hopefully)
I've found that I need to check the settings every time, and they often need resetting.

I've copied and pasted that to print. I've ordered a cable anyway which is the modified one which is meant to solve the problems, but I will try that tomorrow too. Thanks for linking to that.

I never have any issues with my modified ftdi certified cable on Windows 10!
When I followed the instructions your linked above and the instructions that come with the ELM cable, it says about putting the speed up to 11520. I think it's the baud rate??? When I put it to that, it wouldn't connect to any of the ECUs, when I reset it and left it at the 9600 it worked on all the ECUs except the Engine one. Weird!

You've quoted the wrong person!

My settings are default. I use a modified cable with the coloured adaptors.

No adapter for engine ecu and yellow adapter 3 for pretty much everything else.

Ebay item number: 162089521519

This is the cable I have.

No adapter for engine ECU? That's interesting, maybe I should try it without the adapter. I've always used the adapter in the past. I'll have to try that in the morning.

I think that's the kit I originally bought although it wasn't the adapted one. This is the adapted one I have just bought. I'm using the cables from the original.

Maybe it's the Bosch Motronic ECU only? My car, the 1.4 has from what I understand a vastly different ECU to the 1.2 engine.

I could be wrong however, I have little familiarity with the other engines.
