Hi guys, firstly as always a thanks to all the members for the advice and info i get from this site!
secondly I have traded in my volare blue colour therapy! will be picking up the red lounge on saturday! still a 14 reg, just fell for the girl soon as i saw her lol
costing me sod all too, so I'm happy,
anyway my Question is, what personal touches or mods have you guys made to your 500s?
I previously and will again add rear window stickers , TV related, ie breaking bad, dexter, sopranos etc , I have removed them from the old car and buying them again for the lounge, just my little thing, I'll post pics once the new cars home.
has anyone used Vinyl decals? I do like the look of some of them, but a bit unsure wether to go down that road, esp when they do have a shelf life,
i dont want to ruin the apperance of the car down the line as i hope to have this one a while.
so yeah what have you done, what have you seen and liked, what dont you like lol, any pics? be nice to see thos personal touches!

John's comment about decals is very true, and I should think a red car would be the most susceptible to such fading.

Having said that I'm a big fan of decals, just not the commercially available ones - I prefer to go my own way. Being an ageing hippy I wanted flower decals on the FIAT just like I had on my car in the early Seventies. I frequently see cars with what I think are hibiscus flowers on them these days but it's not the same thing at all.

I drew mine up in CorelDraw and had a professional vinyl place cut them out for me, it was surprisingly inexpensive. The vinyl is supposed to be good for seven years but I daresay I'll have renewed them, or changed them completely by then. They were supplied on a backing sheet with a front carrier film to aid with placement.

The thing is I like COLOUR, which is fine if you have a black, white or grey car but if its a different hue you're a bit limited in that respect.

I also had a black vinyl sun-visor made so I drew up a copy of the 500C logo in silver and red to go on the passenger side of the windscreen, gives it an OEM look.

sounds cool Bella, have you any pics of yours? Would love to see

I added an Armster armrest to my black 1.4 Sport. Really worthwhile mod IMO. Improves driving comfort, especially on longer journeys. Downside with fitting one is that the support covers the cupholders for rear seat passengers. Having said that, athe rear end is so bouncy and crashy that uncovered cups placed in these cupholders would lose most of their contents anyway!

I plastidipped alll the shiny chrome parts to anthracite + silver metalizer, gave it some silver&grey finish that i prefer than the standart cheap looking chrome.

Foxy - this looks awesome!

Haha thank you!!! :D I really think the wheels make it - they do turn heads!

I had the stripes put on by the dealership, no way could I have got them on straight enough! :p I do think stripes are best! What stripes are you considering, there's so many styles!
I did the roof vinyl, and the mirror vinyl, and all the stickers myself though, and they turned out well!

Haha soon, and it'll be worth it!

I've had the car about 4 years or so now! Had a few issues here and there, boot wiring went to pot - had it all rewired, thermostat housing broke off, but they're both well documented issues. Aside from that nothing really! It had a hard life before I had it - was used as a courier car, so bumpy roads, heavy haulage, ins and outs/boots opening constantly. Stood up to it well. (y)

Haha thanks, it looks so pretty in the light. It all came off this weekend though - got something new and yobby in mind.

Ha ha thats what bothers me about side stripes, id bugger them up or get air bubbles lol :D id have to get them done!
they sell fiat stuff at street-race.org considering lower side stripes atm, as i have the italian wing badges and the door mouldings, so would be in the way of the higher stripes ive seen or like yours, so was thinking a black lower side stripe which runs below the door, im leaning towards black, the 500 logo is cut out so the red would come through, I have the 3 qtr glass roof so possibly black squares on the rest (All just ideas atm)
ive just bought stainless steel door seal protectors to go on, all my rear stickers are on the window , a distressed fiat flat logo on the dash, red matts, so im getting there, i like to put my mark and touch on cars to make them mine, and i hope this will be the car i have for a while now, its a 14 reg, coming upto 14k on the clock, so id love to still have it for as long as youve had yours so far, my longest owning a car so far is 3 years lol ive been driving 20! had 14 cars, this being my 14th! BUT i do still have my 12th too lol a 1969 mk2 cortina(y)
and OOHim Intrigued to what you have in mind now and Yobby!
british bulldogs and st george crosses ha ha , Hope you'll share on here soon as your done!!
and as for posting pics im guessing you have to use image hosting? i have Photobucket.
look forward to seeing more, and ill post mine asap!

Haha to be honest for how well it's done professionally, it's better. Pay cheap, pay twice is my motto for vinyl. There's a nack to it, I'm getting better lol! Well the stripes can be cut around things like mouldings or badges. To be honest, it's not that expensive to get a design designed and cut up so it's totally unique! We've got a custom design on our other 500.

Haha that sounds great, really looking forward to seeing it! Might even steal some ideas from you! :p
Ahh, pretty cars the Cortinas! I have no intention of getting rid of mine. I'll run it as long as I can!

Haha not quite that yob, but it'll be a "me" design. Just gotta get to work designing it properly! And of course! :p

Nope, I just uploaded them all to the forum, takes a while, but saves me logging into Photobucket. You can add them as attachements, then click the little paperclip, then insert. :)

I've put a few tri-colour stipes down my white cars. The first ones I bought I put them on dry and had a nightmare positioning and with air bubbles. A friend suggested I do it wet even though the vinyl is self adhesive. Since then I've done them all wet and they go on like a dream. Perfectly straight and no bubbles whatsoever.
