Hi folks
when i bought my 500 a few weeks ago the valeter at the garage had scratched the lowest 3 or 4 elements in the heater whilst removing the main dealer sticker.
The dealer i bought it off was as good as gold and offered to renew it
We had it replaced yesterday, but its higher on the left 10mm than the right hand side - the mastic on the right can be seen through the newly created gap
The bloke who did it has offered to replace it again, but to be fair to him, he said the screen is located on 2 pegs, factory fitted to the glass, which locate in 2 corresponding holes on the tailgate.
Anyone head of this before
if its par for the course ill accept it, but if they should fit better ill go with the replacement.
cheers

Sounds like an excuse for a bodge.

Ask him to refit it properly and if these "pegs" that are a problem then fix the problem.

Though I've never heard of a screen locating on pegs and a little look on eBay at some screens suggest these pegs are more mythical than a problem for screen fitters

There are locators on the glass and they're usually in the correct place. If you can see the polyurethane adhesive, the glass hasn't been fitted correctly (or the adhesive is not in the correct place).

Being out by 10mm can cause your window to leak as the curves won't properly match. I had that on my VW T5.

Hi,
Was it a genuine Fiat rear screen? If not this may be why it did not fit. It is more likely however that the fitter did not support it properly and it slipped. Some windscreens have blocks at the bottom to support the screen during fitting. These can be shimmed with card to make it level.
If it's not a Fiat part I'd want it replaced with a genuine one anyway. The garage broke it and should use the same part. There are a few issues with a pattern glass. They may not fit, the heater my not work or last as well and having a non Fiat rear window could be seen as an indication of a previous accident that had been repaired cheaply, reducing the value of the car.

Hi
it wasnt a genuine fiat screen but ive been in the trade years ago and cant honestly see a second hand car dealer shelling out for OE glass unless thats the only option
im going for another one, and if thats no good ill mention it

I nearly said i'd accept it but had another look this afternoon aftet avoiding it for 2 dsys and its not good enough
