So I'm a new (and proud!) owner of a Fiat 500! Absolutely love it but there is one thing that is bothering me.

When I turn on my headlights on, my side lights go on as well, the two small lights below are working fine. However if I want to turn on my DLR lights through the menu, early in the morning or early in the evening, only one of them turns on? The left hand-side bulb appears to be out? This is baffling to me as they work fine when I turn on the headlights are on at night.

Do I need to replace the bulb? Or would I be better to go back to the car dealership as it is under its 3 month warranty?

Two things:
One, the DLR lights are very different to the side lights. Same lens, but different bulbs. When you turn on your headlights, the DLR lights go off and the side lights come on.

Two, if any bulb goes out, you get a warning on the dash. It's a yellow triangle design. Do you see it? Or is it not there?

If you do get a warning, and the DLR bulb has blown and you are still within a warranty period, I'd get the garage to sort it. If not, you need to study the guide on how to change one.
This is an excellent guide.

Good luck,
Mick.

As Mick said, if it comes to changing any lights, especially the DRLs, read the guide. They're an absolute nuisance to change, we end up jacking my car up to do it. (n)

Additionally, when we do get them in, getting them in square (not wobbly) is part of the trick. I used to just bang the lens lightly and it would wobble them into place.

Got sick of it and just turned my DRLs off now. Easy.

Mick.

Actually it's the same bulb but it has two filaments; 21W for the DLR and 5W for the parking light. The other bulb behind the lens is the high-beam.

I didn't know the bulb-out warning was just the little triangle. Isn't there any indication of which bulb?

It's odd, if I don't close my Lounge's boot properly I see the little 'car-door' light on the dash - nothing else. If my partner's Pop's boot isn't shut properly there's a text warning "Boot Open".

It's the generic warning triangle but it should be accompanied with a message on the MFD as to which bulbs are triggering it.
