As far as I know, the changeover happened in 2010. My radio is a 2010, so i got a cable on the slim chance it works. It didn't, Im afraid. 
Sorry for bumping an old tread.
I haven't try anything though, but when I double click the CD button, it already says "no source available", does it mean that it will also not work after I connect the cable?
My 500 is a 2010 sport with Blue&Me. CD unit is BOSCH 312 SB05

Well the cable was about £4.50 on eBay, so it wouldn't be the end of the world - feel like you could return it possibly only losing postage.
But I've a sneaking suspicion that's the same radio I had (and same year car) and it didn't work on mine.

Well if it doesn't work, I'll go to junkyard to find a radio unit that works, so the cable is not going to be a waste.

I just cut my losses and bought a new stereo - didn't have blue and me or anything, so it's an upgrade in all senses!
