I have been offered Warranty for Life on a 2014 1.2 500 S for £24 per month which includes all Services. Is it worth taking out one of these Warranty's or not? On the Service side, I would be having mine done annually as I do low mileage, and the 18,000 mile service cost £188 at my local dealership (brake fluid is extra at £54) if I wanted to change it. My car has done 10,400 miles. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Warranty companies, like insurance companies, have to turn a profit, so statistically you'll always be better off not buying any of their products.

Hi Stel2010,

I don't disagree with UFI's post, but to be honest it all depends on the actual detail of what's included.

Is it this one here by any chance? I just Googled Warranty4Life and this was what came up:
http://www.motorparks.co.uk/warranty-4-life

By the way, you say it's a 2014 model, so on that basis alone you will still have the balance of the Fiat 3 year warranty, just in case that wasn't made clear to you. It always used to be 2 years + third year dealer warranty which you had to transfer into your name when buying a used car, but it's possible you will also get the third year straight away now. Not 100% sure on that last point though!

No you are wrong. It is still the 2+1 year.

Check it out - >

Get this checked, I'd be very surprised if it includes all services. If it does, and means no extra servicing costs apart from wear and tear parts then its a bargain and I'd snap their hand off personally. But again depends upon what sort of mileage etc you do also.

Hi Ahmett, Thank you for responding. Yes it is the motorparks link, I believe. And yes, I will still have one more year under warranty. However, as I would have to take it out within the next couple of weeks, max. I would have to sort of forego that. Guess you cannot have it all. It seems like a really good deal. Apart from all Services and Warranty in addition RAC breakdown cover and they will pick up and drop off my car each time a service is due.

Thank you Super Uwe for quick response. I believe it to be a good deal, but wanted some reassurance from Fiat members. I actually only do low mileage, about 4,000 per year as you asked. I did write another thread re present Lounge I have and having only had it a year, got intermittent problems with break fluid warning, audible too! Dealership have already had two attempts at fixing it in April and August, new level sensor and new brake fluid sensor. They don't appear interested, nor helpful when I took it back last week as the same problem has occurred. It will be out of Warranty early next year, and as the problem is intermittent, like every 3 or 4 months, I am afraid that I will have to start paying. They suggested that I open a case with Fiat, but I think it will get me nowhere and just stress me out! They suggested one of their Mechanics take my car for FOUR days to check it out and that way would plug it into their computer to see what the problem is. For goodness sake!!!! I tried to tell them it is unlikely to happen in any given time, as the problem is intermittent.

Hi Most Easterly Pandas, Thank you for your reply. So sorry, not sure how it works on the Forum, whether I reply individually or just a one off reply. Don't want to appear un-appreciative when you all have taken your time to respond and advise me. Yes, it does include all Services, parts and labour and VAT, apart from wear and tear, and MOT each time is down to me. Does include RAC breakdown, also they pick up and drop off my car.
And the price is fixed at £24.88 per month.

So, let me get this correct ............

£25 a month gives you for the lifetime of the car providing you continue to own it:
All servicing
All faults/defect work
RAC Breakdown (they would have to give you this if the car is warranted against breakdown)
Pick up and drop off when the car goes in
All labour
All VAT

What about fluids?
Antifreeze, brake and clutch fluid, oil?

What it doesn't give you:
The MOT cost of the certificate
Fair wear and tear items

Sounds like they don't expect the car to go wrong ................. ever!

Regards,
Mick.

Hi Mick, Correct! And no it does not include topping up fluids. You can see on the link which Super Uwe put up, in response to my questions, what it does not include, if that helps you, help me in taking it or not taking it. And I agree, my thoughts exactly, it does appear that they don't expect the car to go wrong....ever! So do you think it is a good deal?
Regards
Mick

Stel with your low mileage really don't bother. A yearly service should cost you no more than 100-150 GBP at an indie and with that low mileage it will be a long time before you need to change the brakes and like 5 years before you need the timing belt changed.

Ok Ahmett, thank you so much. I am an older lady and so not sure about such matters, despite having common sense, I lack the knowledge regarding cars and their maintenance.

I would also question who will be doing these included services, main dealer or ???

If you currently pay 188 for a basic service, then a major service could cost you more than the 288 that this scheme costs (so you'd come out ahead). I'd look very carefully at the fine print as frankly most of these warranties aren't worth their proverbial paper. You know if it's too good to be true...

Statistically, 10% of new cars will have a mechanical fault within the first year (even if it's a minor one like a coil or TPS etc).

Now THAT makes it a good deal then. If I were you, I'd bite their hands off.

Personally, I'm fine with all things mechanical, and I reckon I'd take the risk and NOT pay £25 a month, but I'm prepared to do my own servicing and fix/maintain the brakes etc.

However, if I wasn't happy or unable to do stuff, £25 a month gives total peace of mind and you don't need to get your hands dirty or be left on the side of the road. Just remember to take your mobile phone with you! :)

Yes .......... for you .......... it's a good deal.

Regards, and good luck,
Mick.
