Who, a Halfords Employee for a few quid

Yup! That's about the crux of it. Actually, I was in one of their stores yesterday as I had to buy a brand new battery for my Saab. I just wanted to see what their prices were like..... To be fair though, they will price match. But what I did notice, is that they'll charge some wonderful prices to do certain jobs, such as 10 quid for a battery swap! Needless to say, I didn't buy from them, found the battery just half a mile away at a local motor factors for £27 less and I did of course manage to fit the battery myself too.

Incidentally I got asked in Halfords whether I wanted them fitting, I asked if they'd done them before and the guy said they get asked a lot as they're not easy, but that there's a knack to it. But I guess he was lying :)

This is one of those jobs that's definitely much easier once you've done it once successfully. Part of it is down to just having the confidence that you can do it.

Some folks on here seem to get it reasonably easily; others are still struggling even after reading several different guides and instructions.

I've had similar experiences before (though not with the 500 lights); the first time I changed a clutch cable on a Renault 5 it took me literally hours & had me tearing my hair out in frustration; by the time I sold that car I'd put nearly a quarter of a million miles on it and I could change one blindfold in 5 minutes at the side of the road (they were a well-known weakness on that car and I always kept a spare in the boot).

I can understand why some folks just can't get this one; and I can also understand why others who can do it can't see what the problem is.
