Hi

My girlfriends 2009 fiat 500 has a problem with the blower motor.
It only works on setting 4. 1,2 and 3 do not work, and they used to.

Having done some research it points to the blower resistor, which is located inside the blower housing. I've been able to see it when it is in re circ mode and looking up under the drivers footwell.

So, I can see it, I've managed to get the electrical plug off, but there is a tiny bolt holding it in.

How on earth can I get this out to replace? It's a nightmare, I can barely get my hand in let alone any tools.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Alex

Have had a closer inspection, it shows one of the wires on the plug having some of the insulation melted off, the fuse in the engine bay is still working

Have found that it has a small hex head screw holding it in, but even the fiat technician says it's a tough and labour intensive job, although even he could shed no light on how to get it out

Shippers, this is the sort of job that if you can't manage by yourself, find a good auto electrician who won't rip you off especially if your vehicle is out of warranty and if so I wouldn't let Fiat touch it, unless of course you want to hand over an extremely large wedge of cash.
