Errrrrgh, just saw a row of new 500's at my local stealer.

What a horrid abortion of a car. It's trying too hard to be modern, some of them have swathes of chintzy chrome on the steering wheel.

It is to the 500 what the Punto Evo is to the 500. At least the values of the original 500's won't be hurt as much as they could have been.

As great as the 500 looks fiat know it's getting old now, even the marketing for the new look car is based around "relaunch" or being "reloaded" or more to the point given a revamp

Fiat are looking to extend the current model for another few years but covering it chrome and filling it with touch screens and Colour displays, before conceding defeat and designing an expensive new model.

The rear lights look a bit odd,but I thought the front looked better a bit more "upmarket"

The new rear lights really don't do it for me. The facelifted front end is too cluttered for my tastes and I dislike both the new shape and wider placement of the front lights. Fog lights are an improvement at the front, but that's all. The UConnect screen is hideous and too large for the available dash panel space. At least they've kept the same neat curves and creases all round. I won't be replacing my (better-looking) black 1.4 Sport with one of these, that's for sure.

For those that haven't seen one yet, here's a couple of pics I took at my dealer when they first got them in.

The grill reminds me of the Mercedes grill, I think its the C class one.
I'll see if I can take some more pics of them when I pick my 500 S up on Monday.
The new one has new window switches and actually has a proper glovebox, although I'm not too sure of where the USB and aux in are on the new 500.

I like it (y) It's not a lot different and I can understand why Fiat don't want to rock the boat too much. Without the 500 where would they be. It probably saved them from extinction :(
If I have one criticism I think they would have been better to integrate the U Connect head unit better into the dash rather than the "Sticky out,Look at me" approach taken.
Overall, good job done !!

It is far more different than it needed to be. They have rocked the boat and sales will be affected, they did it with the Punto Evo and now they've dome it again, don't worry there'll be an emergency facelift in 2017 though.

It looks very 'bling' to me but then everything seems to these days, they must be doing some cracking deals on the outgoing model because everyone and his cat seems to have bought one round where I live.

Every facelift that comes along from any manufacturer will include a new bumper profile front and back, subtle update of the lights and maybe if it's a long way into its production cycle a small tweek to the dash and new seat materials to keep it fresh until an all new model comes along.
I don't think anyone would struggle to tell that it's still a Fiat 500 from what they have done.
I would save my concerns for what a completely new 500 will look like !!

Not to be rude, but please don't explain what a facelift is to me. I know a lot more about the automotive world than you do :)
