Not to be rude, but please don't explain what a facelift is to me. I know a lot more about the automotive world than you do :)
Who's being rude now !! Everyone is entitled to their opinions and this is why forums exist. There will always be differences of opinion and this subject is no different so why the childish retort ??

I didn't say you were being rude, I was asking that you don't patronise me with explaining what a facelift is.

I know exactly what it is, I just think Fiat have done a poor job of it just like they do with pretty much every facelift.

Since when was smaller always a good thing?

The 500 doesn't handle, is based on a now 12 year old platform and has now gone completely off piste styling wise....

Why wouldn't the fact it's smaller be a good thing?

I can't comment on the handling, but I'm not sad enough to care how old the platform is. The 500 is still roomy for its compact size, and it did well in the ncap test, so I don't see the problem. With regards to the styling, I think it still looks good, and compared to the piles of dog excrement that are the mini and beetle, Fiat have done an excellent job!

If 105 bhp in a city car isn't enough, then sorry, but you're a bit sad.

Then I'm a bit sad.

I was driving more powerful cars when I was 19 to trundle round town in. My punto is the least powerful (main) car I've ever owned

One point about your last comment to Maxi the 500 is far from "roomy"

it did well in the NCAP tests 8 years ago, the goalposts have moved on now. The 500 would probably get only 3 or 4 stars now.

At least you admit to being sad.

From what I understand, given how small they are, there's a useful amount of space. I recall seeing Tom Ford road testing the 500 on Fifth Gear, and I'm sure he said that even he could fit in the back.

"Useful amount of space" the mini you're comparing it to has a bigger boot and mini design their own push chairs and car seats to fit their cars because they know that the mini is small. Fiat have only ever played catch up to Mini, by their own admission the 500L was their response to the countryman.

You also can't compare the 500 to the mini or the beetle, the mini and the beetle are both considerably more expensive if you have a budget of £20k you're not going to buy a £10k 500 if you only have a £12k budget you won't be able to afford a mini or a beetle, they operate in different areas of the market

Sizewise, the current mini is the same size as a Punto, so it's going to be bigger inside than a 500.

I compared the 500 to the mini and beetle because all 3 are retro styled, and the 500 is the best looking of the 3. And yes, I'm well aware that the other 2 are more expensive. Truth be told, I'd class the mini as overpriced.

The mini has 211 litres of boot space
The 500 has 185 litres
The punto has 275 just because a car looks physically the same size doesn't reflect the interior space

The mini feels like a big car to drive, ours is a 2012 model but when ours goes in for servicing they let you choose your courtesy car so I've driven the new models (plus we get invites to all the mini dealer events)
There is much more space in the front of a mini but very little in the back seat. Build quality wise they are worlds a part so again a totally unfair comparison for the little 500.

Does that mean yours is a mk2 mini then?

Depends on how you look at minis because their were quite a few generations of the old shape 1950s to 2001 mini.

BMW grade them by model number so ours is an R56 the new model is an F56 (same as BMW Denote their own cars E30 E46 for the 3 series for example) if it were by Mk it would be a mk8 or 9 or something

In a year or so our current mini will be getting upgraded to an F54.

It's a mk2 bmw mini though? The new new mini, we're now on the new new new mini, lol!

Apparently nobody read the title of this thread, but in my opinion this facelift doesn't justify a separate forum!

Nope definitely don`t need a new forum ,shape wise exactly the same car underneath one thing i would say is ,it looks like it was made more for the American market than the European market (bling) which is not really a good thing!!

Mind you, there's separate sections for the Grande Punto, the Punto Evo, and the 2012- Punto.
