Technical Fitting a subwoofer!!!

I've got a sub woofer to be put in my fiat 500 but will I have to change my stereo? Ive got the original fiat stereo in there! If the sub isn't comparable with my stereo is there any way of doing it without changing my stereo? Thanks guys

I had a Pioneer active subby fitted under the passenger seat wired into the existing rear speaker cables and power - no issues. Of course it'a basically a stand-alone item and just adds a bit of bottom end but it's enough for me, audiophile I ain't!
