Please can someone confirm if a "59" plate Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge (with a Dualogic gearbox if that matters) has an interference or non-interference engine - I have seen conflicting reports with people stating both!

Is there a way to tell visually or VIN etc if both types were used ?

Every 1.2 in the 500 is interference.
