Still in love with our 500 Sport and our 3mth warranty expires next month and so I am keen to get any issues resolved. One thing that does happen when you first open the drivers door is a "buzzing" noise from the engine (almost like the fuel pump is priming itself) I have not driven any other 500 to know if this is normal or not and so any help/advice would be welcome.

Is it a dualogic, perchance?

My partner's 500 Dualogic does that. It's just for a couple of seconds and I presume it's normal as there have never been any issues with the car. My 500 TA manual doesn't do it.(or at least I haven't noticed).
Had 4 dualogics in the household and the noise experienced is normal.
Pretty sure it's the dualogic pump pressurising the dualogic hydraulic system.
It is quite a harsh buzzing sound compared to the quieter whine of a Selespeed pump on a 156/147 or the (similar design to the 500) Stilo Selespeed system. On the 500 the pump is mounted rigidly to the gearbox. On the Stilo it is rubber-mounted and on the 156/147 it is rubber-mounted in the left front wheel arch. That's why they sound different.
