Hi 500 owners
I'm normally on the seicento section as I autotest a sporting which I love to bits
I am looking for a 500 automatic for less than £5000 as my wife had a stroke last November and her left side has not recovered.
I am an ex Seat main dealer service manager so normally I'm ok at assessing whether a car is decent enough to buy or not, but a 500 auto is well outside my comfort zone
any information you could give me would be gratefully received, especially about the duologic gearbox

less than 5000? no do not get a dualogic as for that price it would have to be an old model and dualogics are sensitive gearboxes. I have had to spend over 1000 GBP out of warranty fixing mine and I have a 2010 model. if you search on the forum you can find dualogic threads showing the misery getting them fixed.

You thrash your car to **** and back and abuse it however.

OP, have a good look about, and take any examples for a decent test drive as you would any car.

Not really much more to say tbh, you may end up having issues later on, you may not. Our 2009 Panda Dualogic is still going ok with 33k on the clock.

Some have had issues, like you can with any vehicle, and its then luck of the draw as to if you can find a garage compitent enough in repairing it.

I personally would say its no more or less reliable / troublesome as the VAG DSG gearboxes from what I've seen.
