I've had my new 500s 1.2 for three days and I have to say it feels rather dangerous.

I have just traded in a 63 plate 1.2 500s and I do not know what they've done with this engine retune but it feels slow and very dangerous at junctions setting off, like it doesn't want to move.

I said the first day that it felt strange whilst driving almost as though it had a bungee strap on it being pulled back whilst trying to drive forward.

What was a safe gap in heavy traffic in my 18 month old 500s this one feels like it just won't move and makes me very worried I'm going to get hit. Obviously I know to leave a bigger gap now but why have a car that doesn't want to move quick enough.

Absolutely gutted that you go and buy he same but they've messed about with it that much that it's not the same anymore. Not sure what to do now.

Fiat also annoy by taking stuff off the model, and I know they added other feature but the 1)auto rear wipe when in reverse and front wipers on, 2) the little pocket on gear stick column near drivers leg, 3) iPhone auto play media player when plugged in, 4) generally cheaper finish ie with electric windows up from outside I can see the paint looking at corner of window where I couldn't on old one, and in the boot near the seat backs I can see the paint where I couldn't before like the carpet has been reduced a little.

Really I'm disappointed though with this lack of power, I guess this was the retune they did where they wouldn't go up hills.

Anyone else found the same?

Why did you buy another one? What was the reason? Just curious..

I like the car and tbh didn't think the engine would really be any different.

My car was like that but I've just had the update and it's brilliant now. Not sluggish at all.

Sorry to hear this Dean. Also, sounds very concerning that a 15 plate is displaying the symptoms that featured on the epic Euro6 thread.

I wish I could try one of these cars out to see what they are like; not because I don't believe the stories on here, but just so that I could understand what the hell is wrong with it.

The only thing you can do is pester your dealer and if needs be Fiat. There is of course the Customer Services number, but you could also post on the Fiat UK Facebook page as well.

I tried a 15 plate Panda 1.2 Pop and a 15 plate 500 Pop and found both of them to be fine. I took the 500 to a reasonably steep hill (I live in Cumbria so I know about hills) and had no issues pulling away and again it pulled away fine in third going round a large roundabout. Of course I have never driven a car with the 1.2 in Euro 5 tune so I can’t compare.
I am picking up my new 500 1.2 pop tomorrow, I will not be happy if it performs different to the tested cars. Fiat are at fault for the initial tune of the Euro 6 but why on earth, if Fiat have released a retune, are dealers selling cars that haven't been fettled?

Picked my car up and gave it a run out including a big hill. Now it wont be winning any drag races but it peformed ok abd never felt dangerous.

Just to update the rear window does wipe when reverse is selected if front wipers are on. For some reason the first two days with rain it didn't do it and today I drove it earlier in the day and it still didn't even with front wipers on and then later I was surprised when I selected reverse there was a wipe. I've always said I love fiats but boy are they strange for some odd behaviour. Also the stereo does still turn itself on and go to media player when a iPhone is plugged in, it just takes quite a few more seconds longer. My old one did this pretty much instantly, hence me waiting, nothing happened so I did it manually. It's still bit slow in setting of in first gear, but I like the other additions, the dealer suggested the extras were standard on the sport now but not sure if it was one they'd just ordered with fogs, parking sensors, climate control, ASR & ESC with Hill Holder, tyre pressure monitor. I don't want to give any wrong info so be interesting to know if standard equipment or extras.

Also the car sounds a lot better going over bumps and rough surfaces, it sounds a little better sound proofed and it dampens the sounds of bumps more than my 63 plate.
