Hi, we have had our 58 plate Sport for a couple of weeks now and very impressed with it.
I am after a bit of advice. Having driven the car today I can hear a "Rumbling" noise and it seems to come from the nearside front wheel. It is not there when the car is at idle or revving but only when driving.
The noise is similar to driving down a lightly cobbled street but the car does not move, if that makes sense.
The car drives well and there is no vibration or pulling at the steering wheel.

Is there anything I can check before I start talking to garages etc?

Advice welcomed and appreciated

Thanks

Wheel bearing perhaps? It would help to know how many miles the car has done?

It might be worth jacking the vehicle (safely, jacking in the correct place, axle stands etc) and spinning the wheel by hand and listening for any strange/odd noises. Also, try grasping the wheel at the both the top and bottom and rocking back and forth (please be careful doing this if jacked and make sure axle stands are used) and checking for movement that shouldn't be there. Check both nearside and offside wheels as sometimes a noise that seems like it's coming from one place might well be coming from the opposite side.

If you're not confident doing this, take it to a garage. By the way, when was the last MOT/when is the next MOT due?

Thanks for the reply. Car is on 56k and MOT was done in Feb15 and it had the 72k service (water pump etc) done in April. Didn't think of wheel bearing??? I will get it on some stands at the weekend and have a look. I am not that great with a spanner (as I am sure you will all come to know!)

Good thought franglais. I'm just thinking though, as the car was only MOT'd in February, something might have looked like it was failing, but as we all know, MOT's won't spot everything and depending on the mileage since done, then equally possible. I only mentioned the wheel bearing because I had one fail on my old Primera and it rumbled. When it was removed, it was pretty smashed, had it replaced with a cheap aftermarket bearing and the replacement bearing failed spectacularly just 11 months later. Had to have a genuine Nissan wheel bearing fitted. Funny old thing, never gave another problem for the rest of the life of the car.

I'd an issue like this and it was just the air intake shaking in its bracket. I just put a jubilee clip on the back and no more rumbling noise

Thanks all, I appreciate the advice. if it is the wheel bearing would I get a vibration through the steering wheel? and if it is the air intake is there a particular place to look? (and don't say the engine!!)
