Around 2 years ago I was looking at fiat 500's, I ended up going down the mini clubman cooper s route. Following a change in circumstances (redundancy) the wife is now using the car, previously we worked within 100meters of each other so I would do all of the driving. Now I'm at home on garden leave my next job is going to be 1 mile from home.

This means the mini isn't being used, instead the with wife is using our 3rd car, a Saab 9-5 2.3lpt auto. She loves the auto so I'm considering swapping the mini for a 500 (she wants something smaller than the Saab too) preference is to the twin air, possibly even the abarth and yes I have read the merged post about dualogic, however I'm aware of the Internet and how things become issues. However it is a potential worry point.

How has the 500 held up, are they still loved ? I'd probably look towards a lounge dualogic ta,then change the suspension, fit a better aftermarket stereo and some lightweight wheels and exhaust. Other contenders are the Alfa mito/guiltta with tct.

Thanks
Steve

1.4 MA TCT Guili would be a nice buy! I'm in a manual TA 85 500s and still really enjoying it after a year and a half and also I came from bigger auto cars!

For how she will use it the 500 would be perfect, it's 14 miles each way on the A1 and then some urban work. We have driven the 1.4 many years ago, we had a 1.2 panda on holiday and I've driven the ta prior to buying the mini. But I agree the 1.4 tct multi air gulietta would be a nice car.

You could pick up an Abarth with 10 miles on the clock for less than the new price of a TA. That would be a good choice however tax shoots up as the manual is 155 g/km the MTA is 150 g/km but its a dualogic, if you can live without auto on a small car then consider an Abarth.

I have actually seen a few used a500c's for a reasonable price, but it does need to be auto. If it was manual I would probably keep the mini. But if I have to change then I want something different.

the fiat 500 auto is ancient. If it has to be auto stay away. You have been warned!
