Lightbulb dipped beam query...

Hi,
I have noticed that at night when other fiat 500 owners turn on their dipped beams, the drl lights run too.
However, when I twist the stick to turn on my dipped beam, the drl's do not come on and a message appears on the dashboard saying
"check daytime running lights".
The drl's do work though during the day.

Any advice? Ideally both of them would come on when I put my dipped beam to the 'on' position.
Thanks!

Could be the wiring ? That's what happened to one of my drls when they wouldn't turn on with the dipped beams it would also say check running lights

Re: dipped beam query...

The DRL bulbs have 2 filaments in them. One for bright use as DRL, and one dimmed for Sidelight use with the dipped beam headlights.

It's likeley that both bulbs have blown the brighter filament, hence no DRL, but only sidelight with dipped on.

The "Check DRL" message will not appear if the DRL option is turned off in the ODO menu, which is why i think it's the above.

Thanks!
I will try that to see if it works.
As for the wiring, how can I tell what's normal? Will I have to take it to my local garage?
