I was in an underground parking station that had a very steep entrance/exit.
When I arrived at the parking station and stopped to get my ticket I couldn't reach the machine so I put the handbrake on, put the car in neutral and removed my foot from the brake so I could exit the car - the car start to roll down the ramp. As I was going down the ramp I thought I should maybe put the car in reverse, apply the handbrake and try again, it still started to move downhill with the handbrake on and the car in reverse.
The same thing happened when I was exiting the parking station - first I put the car in neutral and applied the handbrake, the car started rolling backwards as soon as I took my foot off the brake - the same thing happened when I attempted this and put the car in first gear it still rolled backwards.
Is this just something that happens with this car on very steep hills. Or do I need my handbrake checked.
