i guess i am being spoilt now but if you spend 13,000 GBP on a car you would expect more refinement. this goes with what many people say, if you compare the fiat to a 9,000 GBP car its excellent but for 13,000 GBP for a decent one you'd expect more.

and i must say, new cars seem more refined than old cars, and the fiat 500 2007 is just getting really out of date.

As far as I know maximum power is at 5500 rpm. At 6000 rpm the engine lets you know by "dying" that it's time to awake and shift gear.

P.S. I have the impression that there are no days in your life without FIAT 500 bashing...

Yes I must admit my dualogic experiences have scarred me from fiat for life

Anyway this forum needs a fiat 500 basher to reveal the dark side !

You appear to be on the wrong forum!

Thanks Trev. That explains what I was trying to say earlier. It is just very different. Without driving a TA I find it hard how anyone can have an opinion. You just have to drive one to "get it". It is quite unexpected which is why people buy them.

I test drove a panda cross (6 speed, 90hp) a few months ago and hit the rev limiter a couple of times too. Its a combination of an engine that spins up quickly and the strange engine note. But what a bundle of fun the TA is to drive.

Which is why I'm surprised you're considering a diesel.
