I wonder if anyone could offer any advice please. My Fiat 500 (Florence) has been happy to play my music via my USB stick for the past few weeks since she arrived. However, since two nights ago when I collected my daughter from hospital and needed to plug my almost dead fone into the USB port to charge it, Florence has been silent when the USB stick is inserted. Nothing, not a squeak. I've gone thru the menu on the screen, set USB etc etc, auto play ,activate.... Nothing. Has anyone any idea what may have happened and what I can do to rectify it? I'd be really grateful :)
Many thanks in anticipation!

Thank you. I am a girl with no clue what I'm doing under the bonnet apart from filling the washer bottle. ... Where do I start and which bit do I disconnect? ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1431703295.090171.jpg

First, open the bonnet.

The battery is on your right (LH side of the car)
There's a big black cable with a terminal on that is designed for you to be able to pull off. This disconnects the earth from the battery. The cable crosses over the top of the battery.

Disconnect it and leave it off for ten minutes or more. Go and have a cup of tea/coffee.

Reconnect, but you'll have to reset the date and time on the speedo dash via the menu system.

Good luck,
Mick.

Excellent!
Well done!

The Fiat500 has this clever design that you can disconnect the battery easily and without tools or mechanical expertise.

I wonder why?
Maybe it's because it's like any computer. When all else fails, switch it off, wait a bit, then switch it back on and re-boot. :)

Great stuff!
Mick.

lol that is right Mick after all it is a Microsoft windows system in our cars :D

I had that issue so many times, i also did software upgrade and it didn't helped much maybe for a week or two, so when i sufferd enough from the Microsoft cra**y system i replaced it with an after market Pioneer 9550, and now im very happy! :p

Yep, the B&M system is fairly rubbish TBH, I ripped it out of my Bravo and done the same with fitting my old Pioneer HU which done everything B&M does, a lot better, and more :)

Question for Florence the Foof. Hi Florence, having the same problem as you, did you only disconnect the black cable(negative) or did u disconnect both(red and black) & how long did u leave it disconnected for?
Much appreciated, Davie

You'll only need to disconnect one to break the circuit. Some say a few min, but I'd do 30min if you're able to (y)

Yeah, disconnect and go and have a cuppa.
The computer system no doubt has some sort of storage device, so it'll need to power right down. I don't know how long this would take, but I reckon it'd be something like ten minutes. Personally, I'd give it half an hour.

After reconnecting, you'll have to reset the date and time on the dash, but that's all.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

Regards,
Mick.

Thanks for that M.E.P,
I disconnected the neutral for 10 minutes but still not working, I will try it for an hour or so to be sure but not holding my breath. Only got the car two weeks ago!!!
Appreciated, Davie

As long as the power is disconnected for even a second, it will sort things out if a simple reset is all that's required, no need to wait even for a minute. If that doesn't sort it out then the issue is clearly bigger.

Disconnecting the battery solved me the problem for only few days and then the USB started bugging again, sometimes the voice commend didn't even respond.
